<p>As one of the new features on eM Client 2.0, the eM Sidebar will allow you to quickly access your contacts, your communications history with a specific contact and list of attachments exchanged between you and specific contacts.</p>

<p>There are four sections that make up the eM Sidebar: Contacts, Contact details, Communications history, and Attachments history.</p>

<h2>Contacts</h2>

<p>Click on the drop down list on top of the contacts window to choose to list only your contacts associated with a particular account or display all your contacts.</p>

<p>Click on any contact in the <b class="names_of_controls">Contacts </b>window and you will find all the details on the selected contact displayed in the <b class="names_of_controls">Contact details </b>window. </p>

<p>This intelligent feature allows you to quickly make sense of your incoming emails and IM messages by compiling them into a chat log. No longer will you need to dig through your Inbox, or read lengthy attached quoted texts in the email's text body to retrace the thread of your conversation with a particular contact. And all this searching and compiling is done for you in real time, on the fly.</p>
<p>The <b class="names_of_controls">Communications History </b>panel is called so because it gathers all your written conversation with the contact including E-Mails, IM Chat messages, and also Skype chat messages into one chronological communications log. And thereby provide you with a holistic sense of your communications with that particular contact.</p>
<p>Select any contact or email in your contact list, a log of your entire conversation history with this particular contact will be loaded into the <b class="names_of_controls">Communications history</b> window. You can preview your past emails with this contact in a popup window by simply hovering your mouse over a particular Message in the list.</p>

<p>In addition, the Communications History panel also provides with a number of ways to manage and filter the messages.</p>
<p>Similarly, the <b class="names_of_controls">Attachment History </b>panel contains all the attachments that are attached in the emails exchanged between you and the contact.</p>

<h2>Manipulating the Sidebar</h2>
<p>You can toggle each of the four sections on and off with the four icons at the bottom of the Sidebar. </p>
<p>On each of the four panels you can find small operational icons that allow you to detach, fix the height of, close the panels or bring up a filtering strip.</p>
<p>The Detach Window icon <img src="ms-its:manual.chm::/resources/images/screenshot - 18.8.2009 , 14_23_20_reg002.png" />can be found on the Contacts panel, when pressed will detach the panel. The detached Contacts Panel will stay on top while you edit your Emails and calendars.</p>
<h3>Filtering</h3>
<p>The Filter Icon <img src="ms-its:manual.chm::/resources/images/screenshot - 18.8.2009 , 14_23_20_reg003.png" style="width: 17px;height: 11px;" />can be found on the Contacts, Communications History and Attachment History panels. Press to toggle on and off the Filter search strip.</p>
<p>In the Filter strip you can enter words or phrases to be used to search through the Contact List, the Communications History or the Attachment History. This way you can quickly locate a Contact or a message.</p>
<h3>Fixed Height</h3>
<p>The four panels that make up the Sidebar, each can automatically expand and resize to accommodate their contents. You can click the Fixed Height <img src="ms-its:manual.chm::/resources/images/screenshot - 18.8.2009 , 14_23_20_reg004.png" />icon to stop the panels from automatically resizing.</p>
